March 16, 2024The opening scenes of ANH from LEGO is long-awaited & very much something AFOL wants.
However, as a LEGO build, there are several areas that's not satisfying as it could be.
The minifigs selection is great but sadly, that is reflected in the price. The section of walkway from the interior of the Tantive IV that we build here is very nicely sized compared to other similar hallway sets (Mandalorian Datk Trooper Attack).
However, the floor looks untidy. A mixture of plates and tiles is reasonable & standing minifigures is easy because there are plenty of studs, but I wish they were grouped together in neater patterns. Instead, smooth and studded areas seem random, interspersed with some 1x2 jumper plates.
ARC Clone Trooper CT-27-5555 also known as ‘Fives’ is a hit & miss. Decoration on his helmet doesn't really follow source material & looks very awkward. The legs look awful. The printing cuts off halfway down the leg, printed kamas always have & always will look awful, having straps that disappear in the middle of the legs make the product look unfinished.
The pauldron just straight up looks like a knockoff, they'd have just been better off reusing the 2012 ARC trooper version.
Apart than that, you could actually buy another set and MOC into a long corridor.
Amazing set

December 19, 2024Unlike most, I was drawn to this set by the Captain Antilles, Vader, Stormtroopers, and rebel trooper minifigures rather than the Fives exclusive minifigure. I'm sure nostalgia also factored in. This set was the first scene from the very first movie that I remember seeing in a theatre (actually in a drive in). And wow did Lego donsn amazing job with this set. The hallway is near perfect representation of the Tantavive 4. The attention to detail is astounding. And the quality and quantity of the minifigures in this set is fantastic. In all honesty, I would have paid much more for this package.
The build was extremely fun and the instructions were perfect. No issues whatsoever. I believe younger kids would be be able to construct this without assistance as well.
The exclusive "Fives" minifigure is extremely detailed. One of the most detailed minifigures I e seen yet. I have never seen the cartoon he was in, but I still really like the look of this one.
I would rate this set 10/10 for quality as well as value. $55 for what you get in this set is really a great bargain.
Brilliant set for an iconic scene

September 6, 2024Initially i found it difficult to decide which sets to go for from this new wave, eventually settling on Boarding the Tantive IV, and I'm so glad I did. The set was a relatively straight forward build, with some amazing features like the sliding blast door and ability to catapult some figures, as if they had been forced away.
The figures in this set are amazing with a brilliant selection, including the long anticipated Arc Trooper Fives. However, Fives does have some minor floors like the accuracy of the helmet. But this is only a minor issue on an excellent set.
All together, this is a fantastic set to pick up and provides an entertaining building experience, with a brilliant figure selection and looks amazing on display!
Great recreation of an iconic scene

June 5, 2024Overall a fantastic set with a few minor issues. They detailing in the corridor on the walls is fantastic and the return
of rebel soldier minifigures was done brilliantly. Also the fact that the door “blasts” open is definitely an awesome feature for display and play. Even though fives helmet is completely wrong and we still have no waist cape, I still have fun using him as a generic 501 arc trooper. My main issue is that Lego still uses the fat stormtrooper helmets from 2019. Even the rebels version could at least turn more than 15 degrees. Revert to the 2018 original trilogy stormtroopers sometime please :)
