Sophie Lark does a good job at pulling you in

This book literally had me on the edge of my seat. I felt like Remi's story of not being able to trust people because she's always felt so alone is so relatable. Yet, when she meets the good shadow daddy doctor Dane (someone she fully expects to not think twice about her) and they connect, it's beautiful.

As their relationship grew along with their connection and trust in each other, it was really a romantic thing. Him finally saying out loud the truth about what happened to Lila and James and how heartbroken he was and sharing that with Remi when she finally admitted that she had never been truly happy. I loved it.

I did not expect the plot twist with the brother though - I flew through the last chapters of the book in such disbelief that it felt like the pages on my Kindle couldn't turn fast enough. I didn't love Remi's overbearing/obnoxious almost obsession with her brother felt through the story but it's hard to see the truth when you are fighting so hard to feel something true after having your world ripped away from you.

I gave it four stars because of some of the inconsistencies with the writing - there would be beginning quotations for characters then no ending ones to know if it was dialogue between Remi and Dane or anyone else versus the internal thoughts of them. Then also when Tom and Remi went on a date, he said "I'll go home and shower then pick you up and we can go." - then the page breaks and it starts with Remi saying "I meet Tom at the Slice Factory" as in she drove herself there whereas we were just told that he was getting her so what happened?? I also found some spelling errors which makes it hard sometimes to read past because it catches my eye, and my brain struggles to process it to make it correct to continue on. Overall, I recommend it.
Turn it off a little slow, but got really really good

If she writes it, best believe I'm reading it. Can confirm this is worth the read.
