[Rewarded Review] Favorite foundation
· Review provided by Giorgio Armani · December 26, 2024
This is the most expensive foundation I've ever purchased. However, I can now see why these luxury brands cost so much more than the others, including brands such as Too Faced, Mac, Lancôme, etc. I've tried those other brands, (and although my one-time Holy grail Lancôme foundation changed formula causing me to go on a several years hunt for my next favorite foundation landed me here) and I finally chose to bite the bullet and buy myself a bottle of the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation after receiving a decent sized sample from Sephora and liking the results from the trial. Well, I fell in love and also felt like an idiot for being cheap and not purchasing a bottle sooner!! I ended up buying a full size as well as a travel size bottle, which is a godsend, considering that the bottles are glass. #heavy

The texture is lightweight, medium coverage and easily buildable. I prefer to use my fingers for application and blending. I'm an 80s teen and that's how we learned back then #GenX When I'm applying the foundation, it melts right onto my skin, appearing seamless and quickly blended. I use 2 shades and sometimes mix or apply the lighter shade under my eyes where I've got chronic dark circles and around my nose where I've got some redness on both sides. They mesh perfectly. My skin type is normal to slightly dry. I'm 53 years old and I live in the Mid-Atlantic Eastern shore area, so we have a lot of cold, dry, harsh weather with dry heat blowing at us indoors for several months from November/December to until about April or so each year. One more thing.... this foundation does not catch onto any dry patches or texture. I'm serious. It's really, really awesome!! You won't regret trying it!!
A classic

I’m a makeup artist, so when choosing a foundation I look for certain factors: looks good on camera, longevity, shade options and coverage. I feel that this foundation hits most of these boxes.. Firstly, this foundation photographs beautifully. It’s one of the best foundations for that. Secondly, there are loads of shade options. This is a good thing but kind of bad if trying to choose online. If you’re struggling I always look online at other people wearing it and swatches. I like shade 3. 5 which is similar to Punjab and 6 is similar to Stromboli. Thirdly, coverage is buildable and dependant on your application method. You can get a sheer look with this foundation with one pump and using either your fingers or a brush. However if you build this up in layers using a brush (then going over with a damp sponge to absorb excess product) you can get a more full coverage. However… the longevity isn’t the best. Don’t get me wrong is isn’t terrible, but for an oily combo person who has tried multiple primers, this still fades in my t-zone slightly after a 6/7 hours. That still wouldn’t put me off from buying it however as the other factors sway me enough. If you have more dry/mature skin this will be great 100%. So if you’re a bride the only thing that lets you down slightly is the longevity but don’t let that stop you from trying it as like I said it’s one of the MOST beautiful foundations out there.
Torn over this foundation

My first wear of this foundation was terrible. It didn’t play well with my other brand of concealer/moisturizer etc or some combination thereof and it was patchy before it disappeared altogether. I’m a fair true-neutral and the 1.5 (fair, neutral) is a little on the yellow side.

I’ve given it a second and now third chance and have had slightly better results (minus the yellow cast) but I’m still not convinced. It appears to finish nicely but has no longevity for me and doesn’t build coverage very well. Ultimately, I don’t think it’s worth the money. I feel like I had similar results with drugstore brands like L’Oréal True Match Nude tinted serum.

Absolute staple for me

This is an ncredible foundation! I have shades 4,5 and 5.
I am especially grateful for the generous volume of the miniature.
I have normal skin with combined areas on my nose and chin, and I also have large pores on and around my nose. I am 33 years old and have some deep wrinkles around my nose and tiny ones around eyes. I don't know why I didn't try this foundation before, I guess the words Luminous and Glow in the name put me off.
But this is not true at all. Foundation goes on beautifully and can be manipulated from very light to a good medium coverage. It lays nicely around the eyes and often replaces my concealer. What struck me is that foundation is self matted during fixation. But at the same time, it does not tighten my skin in a strange way and lies almost untraceable in areas with wide pores.
It's not shiny and greasy, it looks like your skin but better. Lies perfectly from morning to late night. Unless I'm planning a long day, I don't use powder with it. If I know I need my makeup to last for 8+ hours, then I go lightly with loose powder and use blotting paper only if it's too hot outside.
All in all, it's a great product that I'm very happy with and that fills a lot of my needs. Absolutely recommend it!
