The photo above illustrates what was Nairobi's premier water park, only rivalled in grandeur by Mombasa's Wild Waters which before Covid, had started to transition more into a Conference facility with its immense size holding thousands of delegates.

I digress.

Anyway, for anyone who was able to visit Splash located in Langata just next to Carnivore grounds, then you definitely know just how much fun the place was.

Unfortunately, it was also the site of a myriad of accidents with some fatal as the place never really had proper personnel and protocols to alleviate the accidents that used to happen more often than you'd expect at a place teeming with adrenaline junkies; who mostly used to be teens.

My favourite memories happened at The Dark Tunnel where dozens of excited young peeps would be bunched together and ile kudarana ilikuwa hapo, wacha tu.

Oh, the place is now for sale having been defunct for a few years now.

The common joke is that shida ya maji in Langata led to its downfall but truth is the several lawsuits from enraged parents of kids who got severely injured and even died (like the Odiero kid in above screenshot) as well as the place being ripe for real estate development led to its closure.

All we have now are memories.

Sweet, everlasting memories.

Wild Waters Mombasa holds some very nasty memory for me.
So a certain bank held a children's day at the.ppace and since I was an esteemed client by virtue of having opened an account for the junior who they say looks like me,we were invited.
We go there and have fun until I met a niga, a friend of mine, (he was still carrying his unsowed seeds in his mithirimo and was there with a kisorokwinyo) and he insisted on taking that boy who looks like me to the water dance area. The boy alianza kuchukia ujinga from kitambo, akahepa akaenda kuendesha those electric cars.
So I go looking for them and find Sam,my friend looking worried. I ask him what's up and what followed was the most intense 45 minutes of my life. My son had disappeared. Tumemwacha mamake huko akibugia zile vitu Kanywaji One hupenda with no worries knowing her son is with two responsible adults.... Eventually we found him sitting in those electric cars with not a care in his young life.... Ile haraka niliwatoa huko.

This story is being told for the first time here...

I know the feeling... kuna wakati nimepeleka huyu kijana mwenye watu husema hatufanani.. kwa great granddad yake...

And the typical African mother would have bawled her eyes out, hugged and kissed the kid with relief when she found him, kisha twanga kabisa kama saitan.
😁😁
